From inside the Knot Hole
Born in Massachusetts and transplanted to sunny happy California, Joe Bruzzese is Knot Hole Music.
A disgruntled musician who wrestles daily with the many inane expectations of normal life (compounded by his basic disgust with the state of the world today), Joe spends most of his waking hours shut up in his barn composing scores to the perverse and dark scenes that play out in his head, and has poked his head out just long enough to share his latest project with the world.
In Volume I of his collaborative book, “Twisted Tales,” Joe invites us into a world of sardonic musical storytelling. He introduces the carnival of satirical characters and dark tales that inspire his music – bringing together his beautiful, haunting (and sometimes unsettling) musical scores with illustrations and stories.
As a kid, it was the creeping melodies of the old Universal monster movies and horror LPs that pulled him away from his games in the backyard, luring him with their eeriness and sense of impending doom. Today, he sucks inspiration from the caustic musical genius of Mike Patton and the hilariously twisted stories of Tim Burton, Edward Gorey, and Shel Silverstein… among many, many, many others.
Joe has been writing and performing music for the past thirty years, and at some forgotten time in the past, was the singer for several different bands… but who can remember back that far!?
